Real Stories. Real Craft. Real Impact.
Providing professional documentary and media consulting services since 1995.
From Zimbabwe to New England, to the Great Lakes and Florida, Acadia Pictures documents people, places, and cultures. Since 1995 our work has focused on non-fiction media, educational and corporate programming. Some of our films are self-produced, some are sponsored, and some are created as works-for-hire. But whenever we discover a story that catches our imagination, we’re all in.

Florida’s Forgotten Fort
The Story of Freedom You’ve Never Been Told
Genres: Documentary, History | Duration: 22 minutes
FLORIDA’S FORGOTTEN FORT tells the story of North America’s first sanctioned free black community, an important chapter of colonial history buried by a legacy of racism and indifference. Through interviews, reenactments and archival footage, this documentary short chronicles the legacy of Fort Mose– the final destination of the first underground railroad, where those escaping the horrors of British chattel slavery ran south to La Florida.
The St. Augustine Alligator Farm has had a long history, and we have been proud to leave that history in the hands of Jim Gilmore at Acadia Pictures. Jim has produced many of the videos that can be found throughout our park. Jim’s voice, and vision, educate hundreds of thousands of park visitors through his masterful visual storytelling, allowing visitors to learn about who we are and how to engage in conservation around the world.
DOCUMENTARIES THAT FOCUS ON CULTURE, SOCIAL JUSTICE AND HISTORY
For over 25 years Acadia Pictures has been telling the stories of the world around us. We’ve explored the origins of black velvet art, profiled the American family in crisis, examined the birth of the suburban utopia, and listened to the forgotten men who live in the shadows of Detroit’s underground economy. Our philosophy is simple—go out and film and listen and allow the story to unfold organically.
